Volunteers make a significant impact on the excellent education our scholars receive, and we enjoy having parents and community members actively involved at the school. There are numerous ways to serve! Volunteers come in each week to read aloud to classes, tutor students, walk to recess and the library, help with administrative tasks, and assist with special events.

All volunteers must check-in at the front desk with a staff member, sign-in using the volunteer binder, and receive a volunteer badge or sticker. After completion of your volunteer task, volunteers should check out at the front desk, sign out, and return the volunteer badge.

We want to recognize and keep track of volunteers and the work they do to support CCS; maintaining a volunteer portal helps us keep track of volunteer contact info, assignments, and hours in one place for all CCS volunteers. We also want to be accountable for who our volunteers are and what they are doing to ensure the safety of your scholars and staff.
To ensure the safety of our scholars, staff and families background checks must be completed to vet prospective volunteers working with scholars. In an effort to be efficient we ask that prospective volunteers request their own background screenings and turn them into the Community Engagement Manager for clearance.
We ask that all volunteer sign-ups be completed through the portal. This will help minimize confusion on volunteer sign-ups and keep volunteer processes clear for staff and families.
No, only volunteers working in a chaperone role or working one-on-one with students require a background check (field trip chaperone, reading helper, room parent, etc.). All opportunities that do not require background checks will be located on the first page of the volunteer section within the Membership Toolkit website.
No, on-going community partners and board members utilize a separate background and signup process.
