In 2018, Crossroads secured roughly
$8.5 million to launch Crossroads
Preparatory Academy at a new Downtown
Innovation Campus. This campus sits
at 9th and Broadway in a renovated
5-story, 71,000-square-foot building and
hosts 450 students representing the
rich diversity of Kansas City. Nearly 45%
of students are African American; 28%
are white; 19% are Hispanic or Latino;
and 56% qualify for the federal free or
reduced lunch program.
The Downtown Innovation Campus offers middle
and high school students an academic environment
connected to the business, civic, social, and cultural
environment of downtown Kansas City and the skills
and knowledge to succeed in a 21st century economy.
The second phase of THE BUILDING INNOVATION CAMPAIGN aims to add space to host large athletics, cultural, neighborhood, and school events.
Crossroads Charter Schools is in the process of securing land within walking distance of Crossroads Preparatory Academy to build a Community Center. The Community Center will feature three primary components:
1) A Multipurpose Gymnasium with 15,000-square-feet and including two basketball courts and bleacher seating.
2) A Community Commons with 4,000-square-feet, including a large gathering area, breakout rooms, and activity space.
3) Green Space that will entail a full outdoor classroom, a small playing field, and the potential to add a roof-top garden.
